Weekly Gem #64 A quiet spot in the city

Published 3/26/2016

Location:  This 'hidden gem' is located a short walk west of the botanical garden in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park (see Clue Me! Map).  This gem is one that is hidden in plain sight, and just far enough off the beaten path that most people don't go. People who make that little detour may notice their hearing improve ... with a lack of traffic and other city bustle, and only a few people around, they can hear the gurgle of the water flowing, the chattering of nearby ducks in the pond, and they may even hear themselves think.

.........

Here's the hidden gem entry from our Clue Me! map.

Clue

The calm after the falls

Description

The sidewalk made to look like rocks, through which the water flows into Stow Lake

Why It's Interesting

There aren't many places in San Francisco where you can hear rushing water, but this is one. It appears to be an entirely man made waterfall, presumably with water pumped from the lake to the top of the hill to create Huntington Falls.
