Weekly Gem #142 A log jam?

Published 11/25/2017

Location:  This Weekly Gem is located near 11th and Main in Boise, ID (see the Clue Me! Map). The musically inclined piece of public art is one of hundreds of unexpected paintings and sculptures that make Boise one of the most decorated cities you'll find.

This particular musician has a certain charm, which certainly comes through in his painting.

Unlike many public paintings in town, this fellow is a bit of a loner. When nobody is watching, he'll sometimes climb down and visit the bustling Freak Alley a couple blocks east. That's where most of his painted friends gather. But 99 times out of 100, you'll see he's hanging out by himself on the wall above the Barbarian, looking over toward the record store ... perhaps dreaming of how life will change when he makes it big.

He's extremely laid back, yet surprisingly focused. As you can see, even when the cold north wind blew his hat off, he just kept on playing.

He did mention one of his biggest influences is Mr. Brett Anomyces from downstairs. Brett's sort of a sour fellow, yet surprisingly tasteful when all is said and done. Bottom line, it works, and he's starting to be noticed. (See if you can figure that one out! A clue is in the photo)

Here's the hidden gem entry from our Clue Me! map.

Log Jam?

Description

City Art, of a guitar player, jamming on a log

Why It's Interesting

What we all want to know is ... did the guitar player's hat blow off, or is this two paintings, one of a guitar player and the other of a hat?
